Origin of Valentine’s Day

This Sunday the Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Marbella, as in many countries in the world. Since the 3rd century this festival of Roman origin has been held.

It all started with the rebellion of the priest Valentin. Emperor Claudius II opposed the marriage of young lovers, since young people with no family were more useful to the empire as soldiers.

But our hero did not give up. Valentine continued to marry them, being sentenced to death by the emperor. On February 14th, 270, Valentine became the patron saint of lovers.
