Marbella’s beaches, something for everyone!

The Costa del Sol, and in particular Marbella, is renowned for its stunning beaches with mile upon mile of golden sand, fashionable beach clubs and traditional Spanish chiringuito beach bars stretching all the way from Calahonda to Marbella centre. These continue along the Paseo Marítimo to the glamorous marina of Puerto Banús, and then up to Guadalmina, so it is of little wonder that Marbella is one of the most stylish beach destinations in Europe.

Featuring prominently on recent television shows, as well as in magazines and newspapers, one might be led to believe that Marbella’s beaches all resemble ostentatious beach clubs such as Ocean CLub and Nikki Beach (one of the 10 best beaches in the world). However, the reality is that Marbella is made up of a diverse mélange of styles, vibes, cuisines and atmospheres to suit our international residents, as well as catering to the many tourists and holidaymakers who fill the beaches all summer long.

For a typical chiringuito beach bar experience – jugs of sangria, fried fish and huge paellas – look no further than the busy strip between the Paseo Marítimo beachside esplanade and the Puerto Deportivo; Playa Fontanilla, where ten or more bustling restaurants spill out on to the sand and tourists and locals alike enjoy leisurely lunches in the shade or dinner by the sea. With cool terraces, parasols and sun loungers lined up almost down to the water, these chiringuitos are the ideal place to enjoy a three-course meal before heading down to the beach for a ‘siesta’. The most popular of these restaurants are La Ola, Pepe’s Bar Chiringuito, Europa and La Red, which have frequent entertainment including live music most nights.

Travel a little further east past Marbella’s fishing port and you will find one of the most popular stretches of beach, El Cable, which is dotted with buzzing beach bars, multicoloured parasols and rows of sun beds.

One of the most popular beach bars with young Marbella residents is Bounty Beach, an über-chilled beach club sheltered in the shade of palm and banana trees, complete with DJs spinning chill-out music amid a relaxed easy atmosphere. Serving reasonably priced food and drinks with a smile and a cheery attitude, the appeal of this beach bar is evident.

Travel west and you will stumble upon the many elegant and fashionable beach clubs that line the promenade to Puerto Banús, at Nagueles Beach, in Golden Mile. They include the chic and secluded MC Beach Café (the exclusive beach club of the Marbella Club Hotel) and Café del Mar (the Puente Romano’s fashionable beachside bar and restaurant), where you can be waited on hand and foot with iced hand towels, or jet ski off to the bustling noise and excitement of old favourites Trocadero and Victors Beach. Both of these iconic beach venues serve excellent food in an animated environment, completing a fantastic choice for dining, drinking and relaxing along this pretty stretch of paradise!

Whether you’re after seafood or steak, sangria or champagne, shade or sunshine – there truly is a beach to suit everyone, Marbella’s beaches, something for everyone!! …and if you want to spray champagne in stilettos Marbella has that too!
