Marbella town versus urbanisations

January 12th 2015 | by Ginés García

It’s the age-old question: which is better, downtown living or life in the suburbs? Naturally it depends upon your lifestyle, personal preferences and the location in question, but in Marbella we tend to focus so much on the urbanisations extending out amid golf courses and subtropical gardens that we sometimes forget about our own town centre options.

Though not a metropolis like London, Paris or even Málaga, Marbella is a well-sized town with an urban ambience all of its own. Set along Mediterranean shores you will find elegant seaside apartments overlooking sandy beaches and a stylish palm-lined coastal pathway popular with strollers, joggers, cyclists and those who simply wish to relax in the sun and soak up the atmosphere.

Venture a little further away from the beaches and you come across leafy squares and pretty parks where café society is alive and well. The apartments set between the coast and Marbella’s main Avenida Ricardo Soriano offer an ideal mix of urban and resort pleasures; step out of your front door and you have it all on your doorstep – cafés, restaurants, shops, parks, beaches, nightlife and that special town atmosphere.Nevado Realty Real Estate specialized in luxury properties in Marbella and the Golden Mile

Always a little younger and edgier than the more family oriented life offered in the suburbs, having everything around you without needing to get in a car adds a certain element to life – especially if your home is one of the super luxurious apartments or penthouses that make the western seaside part of Marbella town one of the finest addresses in the entire region.

Trendy young eateries, tearooms, beach bars and a lively shopping, cultural and nightlife scene are set against life in such residential areas as Nueva Andalucía, Sierra Blanca and Guadalmina, where apartments surrounded by tropical gardens and villas bordering the fairways of golf courses offer a different lifestyle altogether.

Here it more about family life close to sports facilities, community swimming pools and residential amenities such as schools, shops, cafés and restaurants. Yes you’ll be more dependent on a car to get around, but you’re also surrounded by more greenery – often with views of the Mediterranean and Marbella’s range of coastal mountains.

You won’t be surprised to find that there is no right or wrong when it comes to choosing between an urban town environment or a more family or holiday home setting close to the centre yet located within this region’s leafy residential zones. The choice depends entirely on the lifestyle, setting, views and properties you like the best – and at Nevado Realty we have a great selection of both, so contact us to see which is your ideal Marbella location: “Marbella town versus urbanisations”.
